Half Empty or Running Over?

Blog - Cup Running OverFor the past two days, this question has been pressing on my mind. . . . or shall I say pressing on my heart: is the glass half-empty or is it running over full?When the promise is delayed, this question begs to be answered.

Sometimes, it seems like my timetable and God’s timetable are like two ships sailing adjacent to one another in a huge tumultuous sea. The timetables are side by side, but they fail to intersect when I think they should. They are in sync, but they don’t seem to be crossing paths as quickly as I would like.

Am I the only one who is tempted to look at the glass as “half-empty” when I should realize the “my cup runs over” aspect of my relationship with my Father? Continue reading

The Synchronized Seed

blog-plant-growing1We are known by what we produce! Jesus made this crystal clear when He emphatically declared, “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Therefore by their fruits you will know them” (Matt. 7:18,20). In similar manner, James made mention of how impossible it is to produce a substance from which we have no origin. Rhetorically, he asked, “Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?”  (James 3:12). Of course, the answer is irrefutably no! The seed is never disconnected from the fruit it bears, and the fruit will always be in partnership with the seed it carries. Continue reading
