Fully Present

Blog - Fully PresentI’m grateful for the pause button in a really busy day. I’ve learned that those times aren’t readily handed to us. We must deliberately push the pause button and take in the spiritual food of God’s Word that is wonderfully nourishing to our souls.

So, I did.

I paused. Listened to a message from a gifted writer, speaker, and servant of God. I was fully alive and fully present in the moment. Many times I listen as I take care of other things around the house, but today I dropped it all and opened my Bible to follow along. Quite a few things I heard to encourage and empower me in this journey of ministry, and I will share one huge point in hopes that it will too refresh you in your servant journey with Christ. Adding Value

Blog - Added ValueIf you’re not adding value to another person’s life, then what are you doing here?

It’s a profound question. And profound questions warrant very thoughtful and deliberate answers.

God could have created each one of us to live in isolation on a deserted island, but He didn’t. Instead, He made us to dwell in community with one another in the context of family, friendships, partnerships, and in varying degrees of relationship. Community undoubtedly involves sharing and depositing, but many times we are not sharing and depositing what matters most. On the contrary, in some cases, we have been making large withdrawals from others with no intention of making larger deposits.

Is that you? Are you draining others of their emotional, mental,  spiritual, and material resources while contributing little in return? Continue reading

In Hard Spaces

blog-rocks2Can I just say….the calling God has placed on your life may lead you down a path full of hard spaces? One may think, Because its His calling, it should be easily penetrable; I shall sail along the perfect course with very little inconvenience and resistance. Most times, this does not even closely resemble the truth of reality.

On the contrary, your calling may take you down a path filled to capacity with rocks, and even the ground underneath the rocks may itself be hard and unrelenting. Difficult for some to grasp mentally, but there, in those hard spaces, you may be precisely in the center of God’s will for your life.
